[Ah, the library. A lovely place for quiet and relaxation, so unlike the hustle and bustle of the city.

And right next to Michalis is a midget who's trying to reach a book of poetry on the top shelf that is clearly out of his reach. He's hopping up to try and grab it and everything. This is frankly kind of ridiculous.

Please have pity on him, because he will die before he asks for help from a tall person.]

[Chuuya has to stop and really consider it. And crane his neck to look at Michalis, because wow.]

...If this poet was any less good I'd say no, but...

[He really wants to reach that book.]

[Taking that now. He won't say thank you because... pride and all, but book recommendations are kind of like thanks?]

Oh, definitely. The writer does some great things with anaphora, especially when it comes to his poems about loss. If you're not a fan of low diction he might not be to your tastes though.

[The way Chuuya says 'anaphora' is definitely the way a person who actually uses that word in regular conversation says it, so. Someone experienced with poetry.]

Where I'm from people used to think that you could only write 'proper' poetry in high diction? But when it comes to deeply personal poems, I think that detracts from the emotions of the work by putting distance between the writer and the reader.

That's a shame. I'm a poet myself.

[No, Chuuya, I'm sure he couldn't tell.]

What didn't you like about it?

Oh, yeah, that'd do it. There are some narrative poems, but for the most part you should find more personal subjects rather than characters. I've never written fiction in my life.

Yeugh, politics.

[He says it with more distaste than he does for actual swear words.]

No thank you.

Right? I met a king online the other day and the whole conversation I wanted to reach through the screen and give him a hug.
goatsongs: neutral blush (blushing a little)

Yeah, king of Macedonia or some place like that?
goatsongs: neutral (uncertain)

[personal profile] goatsongs 2021-03-28 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
...Oh.

Uh.

Hi again.

[Nailed it.]
goatsongs: neutral blush (not paying attention)

[personal profile] goatsongs 2021-03-28 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
That was part of it, but it was more the... everything? A lot of everything.

[After some consideration, he reaches out to give Michalis' shoulder a pat. Not a hug, but it's something.]
goatsongs: neutral (explain explain)

[No hugs on the first meeting.]

Yeah, that's a thing people tend to do when they meet somebody who's had it rough.
